Besides his own theatre, Bertman makes productions at the greatest opera houses of the world: Canadian Opera Company, Volksoper Vienna, Nationaltheater Mannheim, ENO. Since 1994 up to now Dmitry Bertman supervises the master class at Bern Opera Studio, where he teaches future opera singers the theatrical methods of Stanislavsky, M. Chekhov and Shalyapin. Since 1996 he is heading the course in musical theater producing at the Russian Theatrical Arts Academy. In 1997 Dmitry Bertman was awarded to Honored Art Worker of Russia. In 1998, 1999 and 2000 he was awarded the most prestigious theatre award of the New Russia - “The Golden Mask” as the best opera director (Bizet’s “Carmen” - 1998, Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Tsar’s Bride” - 1999, D.Schostakovitch “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” - 2001). He was a stage director of the action “Stars of the world - to children” with M.Caballe (2000). Dmitry Bertman was born in Moscow in 1967. In 1984 he entered the State Lunacharsky Theatrical Arts Institute (Russian Theatrical Arts Academy) (GITIS), the musical theater faculty, on the speciality: musical theater producer. There he studied in the course led by National Artist of the USSR, Professor G. P. Ansimov. During his studies at the GITIS began practical activity having staged performances in Moscow, Tver and Odessa in professional theaters. In 1990 he works on probation at Salzburg Elizabet Buhne theater in Austria. In 1990 twenty-three-year-old Dmitry organized the new opera theater in Moscow called Helikon Opera. It received the status of state in 1993. The theater becomes popular in Moscow and often tours in our country as well as abroad.
